Afromastacembelus plagiostomus is a nocturnal species known for its unique snake-like body. It requires a spacious tank with a secure lid as the species is known for its escaping tendencies. The tank should include plenty of hiding spots like caves and crevices, as this species can be shy and prefers a dimly lit environment. They are carnivorous and prefer a diet of worms, crustaceans, and other readily available live or frozen foods. Tank mates should be chosen carefully, as they can prey on smaller fish.
