Anostomus ternetzi is an active, schooling fish which means it gets along well with other non-aggressive species. They are known for their unique headstanding behavior as they swim, often rooting around for food. It is important to ensure that the aquarium has ample hiding spots, such as rock formations and driftwood, as well as an open space for swimming. Given their size and activity level, they require a sizeable tank. Be cautious when keeping them with other fish of smaller sizes to avoid unintentional bullying or aggression during feeding.
