Aplocheilus blockii, found mainly in the calmer waters of India and Sri Lanka, is popular in the aquarium trade due to its attractive coloration and ease of care. These fish are known for their vivid hues ranging from blue to green, accented by red-tipped fins. They are surface feeders and have unique hunting techniques. However, while relatively peaceful, they may show aggression towards smaller fish, especially during feeding. To provide for their needs in captivity, it's important to have a well-covered tank with floating plants to mimic their natural habitat. They prefer subdued lighting and need regular water changes to keep the environment clean. It's quite fascinating to observe their behaviors, making them a favorite among both beginner and experienced aquarists.
