Astroblepus peru

Astroblepus peru, commonly known as the Peruvian Astroblepus or Mountain Catfish, is particularly adapted to life in fast-flowing streams, possessing unique features such as a sucker mouth that allows it to cling onto rocks and other surfaces. These fish are nocturnal and are best kept in a biotope aquarium that mimics their natural environment with plenty of hiding spots, rocks, and a strong current. They may be difficult to source and are less commonly kept in home aquariums compared to other freshwater species.
