Betta foerschi is known for its striking coloration and peaceful temperament compared to other Betta species. They thrive in a well-planted tank with subdued lighting and ample hiding places. Given their natural habitat, these fish prefer tannin-stained waters reminiscent of the blackwater streams of Borneo. Leaf litter and driftwood can help replicate their ideal environment. Breeding-wise, they are paternal mouthbrooders which means the male carries and protects the eggs in his mouth until they hatch. These fish are generally adapted to a carnivorous diet, relishing live or frozen foods. Tank mates should be chosen carefully; smaller, non-threatening species are preferred to maintain harmony.
