Biotodoma wavrini are peaceful and social fish, making them suitable for community aquariums with similarly sized non-aggressive tankmates. They are substrate foragers, meaning they sift through the substrate looking for food, and thus prefer sandy or fine substrates to avoid damage to their delicate barbels. While primarily omnivorous, their diet in captivity should be varied, including high-quality sinking pellets, frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. Regular water changes and proper tank maintenance are essential to keep them healthy.
