Brachyplatystoma flavicans is a giant riverine catfish, one of the larger species within the catfish family. Their immense size and active swimming behavior require large tanks with strong filtration systems to maintain water quality. They typically thrive in river-like setups with strong currents, simulating their natural habitats. They are predatory and should not be kept with smaller fish species. With it being a large and powerful species, a reinforced tank cover is necessary to prevent potential escapes.
