Chitala ornata
Clown Knifefish, Spotted Knifefish, Featherback, Clown Featherback
Chitala ornata can grow quite large, often reaching up to 100 cm (39 inches) in their natural habitats. In an aquarium setting, they may grow slightly smaller but require large tanks due to their active swimming nature and potential size. Known for their long, elongated bodies and signature spots, these nocturnal hunters need ample space and stable water conditions. They are predatory and might eat smaller tankmates, so care in tank selection is crucial. Although they are solitary, they may cohabitate with other fish species given enough space and food.
