Chrysichthys brevibarbis is a nocturnal species of catfish that belongs to the Claroteidae family. They are bottom-dwellers, often preferring dimly lit aquariums with plenty of hiding spaces to mimic their natural environment. Social by nature, these fish do well in groups. Though relatively peaceful, care should be taken when choosing tank mates to avoid smaller species that may be mistaken for food. Owners should ensure an effective filtration system and regular water changes to maintain water quality. Chrysichthys brevibarbis are omnivorous and can be fed a varied diet comprising live, frozen, and commercial foods.
