Corydoras paleatus is a peaceful, bottom-dwelling fish suitable for community aquariums. They prefer to be in groups of at least six and are best kept with other peaceful species. In the wild, they inhabit environments with plenty of hiding spots and leafy substrates, which should be mimicked in the aquarium. They are lively and social fish, engaging in group foraging and playful behaviours. Regular water changes and maintaining clean tank conditions are crucial for their health. Additionally, their barbels should be protected from sharp or rough substrates. Consider using sand or rounded gravel in aquariums. Over-filtration should be avoided to prevent stress.
