Corynopoma riisei

The Corynopoma riisei is a graceful and slender fish notable for its unique reproduction methods involving complex courtship displays. Male swordtails show a long and colorful extension of the gill cover used to attract females. They are peaceful, suitable for a community tank, but should ideally be kept in groups of at least six to mimic their natural social behavior. Due to their active swimming nature, Corynopoma riisei requires a tank with adequate space and ample vegetation that simulates leaf litter, providing an optimal environment mimicking their native habitat. It is important to maintain stable water parameters as fluctuations can be detrimental to their health. Slow-moving water with some current is ideal, akin to the slow-moving streams and rivers they naturally occupy. Adaptable to a carnivorous diet, they thrive on a varied diet of high-quality dry foods, live, or frozen diet options like brine shrimp and daphnia.
