Crenicichla menezesi is a carnivorous fish, exhibiting a territorial nature, especially during breeding. It requires a spacious environment with plenty of hiding places, such as rocky outcrops and driftwood. Cohabitation with similarly sized and temperamentally adaptable species is recommended.
