Epalzeorhynchus bicolor is known for its striking appearance, with a black body contrasting against its vibrant red tail. They are semi-aggressive and territorial, particularly towards individuals of similar size or appearance. Thus, they are best housed in larger aquariums to provide ample space and territory. Often recommended for community tanks with similarly sized or larger fish. This species has been declared extinct in the wild due to habitat destruction and other ecological factors, but remains widely bred in captivity.
