Hampala sabana is a relatively large and active species requiring ample space for swimming. They are known for their agile nature and can be congenial with similarly sized fish, but smaller tankmates may become prey. It is important to provide a dimly lit tank with plenty of cover, resembling their natural riverine environments. Consideration should be taken with regards to the current they inhabit; a moderate to strong water current can suffice.
