Hemichromis elongatus is known for its vibrant colors and territorial behavior, especially during breeding. Providing plenty of hiding spots in the tank is recommended to reduce aggression among tank mates. They do well with robust, similarly sized fish and should not be kept with smaller fish that might be perceived as prey.
