Hemigrammus stictus is a peaceful schooling fish ideally kept in groups of six or more. They are well-suited for a community aquarium with similar-sized and temperament fish. Their natural habitat includes heavily vegetated waters, making live plants an excellent addition to enhance their well-being. They are omnivorous and have a diverse diet in the wild, consisting of small invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. In captivity, they thrive on a varied diet of high-quality flake foods, live, and frozen foods such as daphnia and bloodworms. The Red Phantom Tetra is particularly known for its vibrant red coloration, distinguishing it from other tetras. To maintain their color, a varied and nutritious diet is essential.
