Ilyodon furcidens
Goodeid Splitfin, Goodea Multiradiata, Forked Tail Splitfin
Ilyodon furcidens belong to the Goodeidae family, known for their vibrant behavior and sociable nature. They thrive in well-oxygenated waters and require stable environmental conditions to be consistently healthy. Importantly, these species are livebearers, meaning they give birth to live young, which can require additional provisions for fry (young fish) rearing. They are relatively active fish and prefer to be kept in groups to mimic their natural social structures. Being omnivorous, they have diverse dietary requirements biting from natural algae to small insects or specific commercial fish food.
