Julidochromis transcriptus is a small species of cichlid known for its distinctive striping and captivating behavior. It is peaceful when housed in a suitably sized aquarium with adequate hiding places. However, they can exhibit territorial behavior, particularly during breeding seasons. As a cave-dweller, it relishes rocky setups with numerous hiding spaces, replicating their natural environment. Compatibility with other fish should be considered carefully to avoid territorial disputes. It is a captivating addition to a Tanganyikan biotope aquarium.
