Lepidocephalichthys sp. LE2 is known for its elongated body and subtropical nature, typically found in rapid flowing waters with abundant oxygen levels. They have specialized morphological adaptations allowing them to thrive in fast currents. These fish often prefer rocky substrates and locations with well-oxygenated waters. They are relatively peaceful and can coexist with similar small-sized, non-aggressive fish. Given their natural habitat, specific conditions such as cool temperatures, high levels of oxygen, and moderate water movement must be meticulously maintained in captivity. Additionally, they may burrow into soft substrates, so careful consideration should be given to tank composition. Hillstream Loaches are generally omnivorous, enjoying a diet comprising biofilm, small crustaceans, and plant matter.
