Leporellus vittatus, commonly known in Brazil as 'Cinturaça-de-fecho-rápido', is a species well adapted to life in tropical rivers. Characterized by its elongated body and distinctive striping along its flanks, it becomes a striking presence in broader community aquarium setups. Though not widely popular in the aquarium trade, it is appreciated for its vibrant movements and resilience. A peaceful species, it can coexist with other similarly sized and non-aggressive fish. However, due attention must be given to its water preferences to avoid stress-related issues. Feeding predominantly on plant matter and small invertebrates, a mixed diet containing both vegetable matter and protein sources is recommended to maintain optimal health.
