The Nemacheilus selangoricus is a benthic freshwater species found primarily in fast-flowing streams and rivers. They often inhabit sections where the substrate consists of sand or gravel, and the water flow is significant. These loaches are scaleless and require a well-aerated tank with good filtration. Rocks, driftwood, and plants can help mimic their natural environment. They are relatively peaceful but can show some territorial behavior among their kind. They thrive in groups, so it's advisable to keep them in groups of 5 or more. They are omnivorous, feeding mainly on small invertebrates and plant matter.
