Neolamprologus fasciatus is known for its distinct black stripes running vertically along its body. It is a territorial species, best kept with other rugged cichlids or in species-specific setups to prevent aggression. The tank should ideally replicate rocky environments with plenty of caves and hiding spots, which mirrors its natural habitat. This fish feeds on invertebrates and small fish in the wild, and a varied diet of pellets, live or frozen foods is recommended in captivity. Aquarists should ensure that water conditions are similar to those of Lake Tanganyika, with regular maintenance and water changes to keep parameters within desired ranges.
