Pantodon bucholzi is a fascinating, surface-dwelling species known for its unique appearance and behavior. It has a broad, flattened body with large pectoral fins that resemble butterfly wings when fully spread. It tends to stay near the water surface, so the tank should have a lid to prevent escape attempts. This species is relatively peaceful and can peacefully cohabit with similarly sized, non-aggressive species. However, due to its surface-dwelling nature, it may prey on smaller fish that venture too close.
