Parosphromenus tweediei is a delicate, beautifully iridescent fish best kept by experienced aquarists familiar with maintaining low pH, soft water conditions. They thrive in densely planted tanks with hiding spaces and subdued lighting. Suitable tankmates are small, peaceful fish that share similar water requirements. The males are more colorful and have extended dorsal and anal fins used for displays during courtship. Provide floating plants and ensure the water is tannin-rich to replicate their natural environment, which often appears tea-colored. A breeding tank with intentional blackwater conditions is ideal for spawning, with infusoria and micro-worms recommended as starter food for fry.
