Petenia splendida, commonly known as the Bay Snook, is a large and predatory cichlid suitable for spacious aquariums. Their elongated bodies and large mouths are adapted for preying on smaller fish, thus emphasizing the need for selective tank mates. They are known to possess a unique color-changing ability, especially during breeding periods. While predominantly a piscivore, this species may accept high-quality pellets and frozen foods in captivity.
