The Potamotrygon leopoldi or Black Diamond Stingray is a freshwater fish belonging to the family Potamotrygonidae. They are known for their stunning black and white patterns which make them a popular choice among advanced aquarists. However, they require very specific care conditions due to their size and sensitivity to water quality. Housing them requires a sizeable tank with plenty of sand and open swimming spaces. They are benthic feeders and require a diet comprising fresh fish and invertebrates. Due to their potential size and specific needs, they are best suited for those with experience in maintaining large freshwater fish.
