Potamotrygon schroederi
Schroeder's Freshwater Stingray, Rio Negro River Stingray
Potamotrygon schroederi are relatively peaceful but require large tanks with ample bottom space for movement and hiding. Sand or soft substrate is preferred to protect their delicate underbellies. They are sensitive to water quality, so regular monitoring and maintenance of water parameters are crucial. These rays are carnivorous, feeding on fish and invertebrates in their natural habitat. They can be challenging to care for as they grow and demand experienced aquarists.
