Pseudosphromenus cupanus, commonly known as the Spiketail Paradisefish, is a small but vibrant species popular among aquarium enthusiasts. It is a labyrinth fish, capable of breathing atmospheric air and can be easily distinguished by the spiky extensions from its caudal fin. Generally, it's a peaceful fish but can display territorial behaviors, especially during breeding. An ideal tank setup would include a well-planted environment with gentle water flow to mimic its natural habitat. Dark substrates and subdued lighting can enhance its coloration. Regular maintenance of water quality and providing diverse diets including live or frozen foods contribute to their health and vitality.
