Pterophyllum scalare, commonly known as the freshwater Angelfish or Common Angelfish, is a popular aquarium species known for its distinctive triangular shape and graceful swimming. Typically non-aggressive but can be territorial. Optimal tank conditions include plenty of swimming space, moderate lighting, and plants for cover. Best kept in small groups to mimic natural social behavior, but large enough tanks are essential to reduce aggression. Regular water changes and filter maintenance are key to ensure optimal health.
