Raiamas batesii, or the Robber Barbel, is a lively freshwater species known for its streamlined, silvery body and active swimming behavior. This fish exhibits schooling behavior and should ideally be kept in groups of at least five individuals to mimic its natural environment and reduce stress. Renowned for its adaptability, the species thrives in a carefully maintained, sufficiently spacious aquarium capable of supporting its energetic lifestyle. The tank setup should include plenty of swimming space with moderate water flow to imitate river conditions. Adequate cover, such as rocks and driftwood, is beneficial to provide hiding spots and break sightlines, which are essential for their social interactions.
