Scatophagus argus
Spotted Scat, Argus Fish, Tiger Toadfish
The Spotted Scat is a robust and adaptable fish species, versatile in habitats ranging from brackish to freshwater environments. When maintained in captivity, a sizable tank with plant cover and ample swim space is necessary. A robust filtration system is recommended due to their high bioload. Scats are generally peaceful but may show aggressive behavior if stressed or in overcrowded conditions. They are primarily herbivorous but do accept a variety of foods, making them compatible with hand-fed and standard pelleted diets.
