Schistura hypsiura

Schistura hypsiura, known as High-tailed Loach or Noodlefish, is a species best suited to a hillstream setup that includes a high oxygen turnover and relatively strong water currents. The fish is notable for quite elaborate physical features, like the distinct high tail that gives it its common name. They are an active species with quite a vivid personality and can be quite territorial towards species of similar shape and form. Adequate hiding spots and broken lines of sight are recommended to keep territorial disputes at a minimum. Being a bottom-dwelling loach, it thrives on a substrate of smooth pebbles and sand. Additionally, the inclusion of roots and driftwood provides both aesthetic enhancement and utility in natural foraging behavior. For optimal well-being and health, it's important to maintain the water condition parameters within their specified range and provide a varied diet including live or frozen invertebrates, which forms a primary part of their diet in the wild.
