Serpenticobitis zonata
Zonal Loach, Zebra Loach
Serpenticobitis zonata is a relatively small, but active, freshwater fish. Known for its striking zebra-like striping, it enjoys shoaling with its peers, leading to vibrant displays of synchronized swimming. While peaceful, the Zonal Loach may exhibit minor territorial behavior if kept in too small a tank. They rely on well-oxygenated water with a gentle current, mimicking their natural stream habitats. Utilize a substrate that is sandy or fine-grained to prevent damage to the fish's sensitive barbels, and ensure plenty of hiding spots with rocks or aquatic plants. Regular water changes and a varied diet of high-quality flakes, live, and frozen foods will maintain their health and vivid coloration.
