Scleromystax macropterus is a peaceful bottom-dweller, perfect for community aquariums with other non-aggressive species. The fish is best kept in groups of at least five to encourage natural behavior and reduce stress. They appreciate a substrate of sand or small gravel and plenty of hiding spots using driftwood or plants.
