Sturisoma aureum
Golden Whiptail Catfish, Whiptail Catfish
Sturisoma aureum is a peaceful and unique fish that boasts a long, slender body with distinctive whiskers. They are best kept in tanks with plenty of natural driftwood and plants which mimic their natural environment, providing spots to graze and hide. A gentle current along with high oxygen levels will ensure they thrive well. The diet of these fish should include both vegetable matter and high-protein foods, such as algae wafers and fresh vegetables. Breeding in captivity can be challenging, requiring specific conditions. Lighting should be moderate to low, avoiding too much glare or direct sunlight.
